My Back Burner Projects
Every designer has a personal slush pile of prototype games from contests and such. Here they linger, hoping to be picked up again and refined into a fine-tuned engine of fun or cannibalized for parts.
An investigative game about the perfect city of the future, as seen by Americans of the 1950s. You play police detectives, stamping out the crime and vice that cannot be permitted to disrupt the gleaming city of Utopolis. Of course, you're also mindwiped criminals for whom police duty is a form of parole as you struggle with the fragmentary memories of your past crimes.
An RPG/board game hybrid where you play the disciples of Dr. Victor Frankenstein, the esteemed doctor who plumbed the shadowy boundary between life and death before disappearing. Now you each compete to fulfill your mentor's mad dream - to create life!
A children's game of ancient Persia where young Magi-in-training have adventures in the emperor's palace as they help others and earn their positions as full Magi.
A half-baked hack of Ron Edwards' Spione featuring a seedy mix of crime noir and snowmen who live on a knife's edge before melting or hardening to ice. I blame it all on sleep deprivation.
